Well over 50 yrs ago I knew a lady who would not buy Christmas gifts if they were made in China . Her daughter will recognize her in the following.

Did y'all see Diane Sawyer's special report? They

removed ALL items from a typical, middle class family's home that were not made in the USA .

There was hardly anything left besides the kitchen sink. Literally. During the special they showed truckloads of items - USA made - being brought in to replace everything and talked about how to find these items and the difference in price etc..

It was interesting that Diane said if every American spent just $64 more than normal on USA made items this year, it would create something like 200,000 new jobs!

I WAS BUYING FOOD THE OTHER DAY AT WALMART and ON THE LABEL OF SOME PRODUCTS IT SAID 'FROM CHINA '

FOR EXAMPLE THE "OUR FAMILY" BRAND OF THE
MANDARIN ORANGES SAYS RIGHT ON THE CAN 'FROM CHINA '

I WAS SHOCKED SO FOR A FEW MORE CENTS I BOUGHT THE LIBERTY GOLD BRAND OR THE DOLE SINCE IT'S FROM CALIF.

Are we Americans as dumb as we appear --- or --- is it that we just do not think.
The Chinese, knowingly and intentionally, export inferior
and even toxic products and dangerous toys and goods to be sold in American markets.

70% of Americans believe that the trading privileges
afforded to the Chinese should be suspended.

Why do you need the government to suspend trading
privileges? DO IT YOURSELF, AMERICA !!

Simply look on the bottom of every product you buy,
and if it says 'Made in China ' or 'PRC' (and that now includes Hong Kong ), simply choose another product, or none at all. You will be amazed at how dependent you are
on Chinese products, and you will be equally amazed at what you can do without.
Who needs plastic eggs to celebrate Easter? If you must have eggs, use real ones and benefit some American farmer. Easter is just an example. The point is do not wait for the government to act. Just go ahead and assume
control on your own.

THINK ABOUT THIS: If 200 million Americans each refuse to buy just $20 of Chinese goods, that's a billion dollar trade imbalance resolved in our favor...fast!!

Most of the people who have been reading about this matter are planning on implementing this on Aug. 1st and continue it until Sept. 1st. That is only one month of trading losses, but it will hit the Chinese for 1/12th of
the total, or 8%, of their American exports. Then they might have to ask themselves if the benefits of their arrogance and lawlessness were worth it.
Remember, August 1st to Sept. 1st!!!!!! START NOW.

Send this to everybody you know. Let's show them that we are Americans and NOBODY can take us for granted.
If we can't live without cheap Chinese goods for one month out of our lives,WE DESERVE WHAT WE GET!

My Husband's View on Barry's Vlog

My husband, Tom responds to Barry's vlog on " ASL failed"

He has deaf uncles and aunts. Both of his parents are deaf. He has a deaf brother. He's DEAF. He uses ASL as well as PSE. He does not believe in providing an ASL interpreter for classes and churches. Does ASL fail? He gives it a NO to this question. It does not do anything with ASL. ASL is just a language for deaf people to communicate. It's enjoyable.

Misunderstanding normally happens to anyone. There is no way to avoid it. Yet, it does not do anything with ASL, so it does not fail but is enjoyable.

Oh, my time is up. I need to get my kids from school.

Hello,

I'm on my very tight schedule as a mother and grandmother ,even through I find my time on Facebook and Farmville (I'm not addicted, I manage my time). Adding to my schedule, I work on my family tree as well.

As you know, I just make it very simple and short.

I find Barry's vlog a true view way of recognizing a missing spot in ASL as misunderstanding between ASL users and vocabulary. I get to be honest with you that I think he's right about few things. Nevertheless, I do cherish my ASL and thank Barry for giving me a deep thought on how I can improve my ASL skills. Thank you, Barry Sewell! I know that you find it shocking. It's okay to agree with any one you almost always disagree but admire his or her perspective on a thing. I admire his saying, 'balance" as well. Does ASL fail? Well, I think it's too strong for a question. Personally, I think to skip this question.

Honestly, I do require a PSE translator instead of ASL interpreter if I'm in College because of misunderstandings and its limited vocabulary. Keep in mind that I still do cherish ASL I rather use outside of a college. Due to my childhood, I grew up with SEE in my school. You need to understand where I come from.

As I go out the world, ASL is like a light into my life and makes it so beautiful. I'm not a bi-languaged in English/ASL child but from SEE to ASL. I also use PSE. When I was young, I went to Gally, I found ASL that it had a negative view as to misunderstandings and its limited vocabulary. Some of classes my teachers used PSE. And then I decided to go a college that provided interpreters in my home state. I felt more comfortable with PSE translators in classes but enjoyed ASL out of classes.

I don't want to continue on writing, so I need to go back to where I am now- getting busy as a mother and grandmother.

Grandma's Letter ( part 2)

The teachers handled all problems, if you got into trouble there was no Principal, just your teacher. They gave spankings then, HARD ones too. I saw them break more than one yard stick on a kid. Some had belts, some had wooden paddles they used, some used their open hand I don't ever remember a kid getting kicked out of school, but the worse thing a kid did was into a fist fight with another student. Kids got in trouble for things like; chewing gum, talking, copying from someone else, being too restless and not sitting still, not having work done, very few kids talked back to teachers then, giggling, daydreaming and staring out of the window ( my biggest problem). No one worried about weapons then, kids could bring their 22 rifles or pellet guns to school (nobody bothered things then) or gave them to the teacher to hold til the end of the day. Most of the boys carried picket knives, no one cared because no one even dreamed of using them as weapons to hurt anyone. There weren't many fights, if there was the teacher took the kid home and talked with the parent after school. So if someone wanted to fight they did it out of sight of the school on their way home, then usually they would be waiting for them with a belt when they got home.

Well, I think that just about covers it all without going into specific stories. I hope this will help you and not be so late thatit is no help at all.

Look what I found from a box I sorted out. Grandma's letter. She wrote to my daughter, Tamra.

Dear Tammy,

I'm sorry that I haven't written to you about when I went to school. I'm not very good at getting letters written.

The grade (elementary) school I went to was different than what most elementary schools were then. Mine was a small country school, but it was bigger than other country schools in the same county. It was called the Clinton School. We had grades K-8th in our school.

There were two rooms, one was for K-4th grades, and one was for 5th-8th grades. We had one teacher for each room. That teacher taught everything; math, Lanugage, History, Reading, and Art. We did not have any Music or PE classes.

Sometimes there would be only one student in a grade level or there may have been as many as 8 students in a grade. Mine had Janet Shuster, Carol Jensen, Marcene SunBear, Ron Tauson, and me. Some years there may have been another kid for part of the school year, these were the ones I went to school with from Kindergarten through 8th grade.

We had one recess in the morning, lunch recess, and one afternoon recess. We did things like playing on the swings, slide, merry-go-round, or games ( soft ball, tag, running contests, etc) or jumped rope, hop scotch. The teachers wouldn't let us just sit and talk during recess.

Most of the years we had to take our lunches with us but the last few years we had a hot lunch program. We had really good lunches, my neighbor lady was the cook and she was realy good. She made things like fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn on a cob or some other vegetable and we always had cookies, pie, or cake for desert. We had fresh mik every day, too.

Almost everyone walked to school or biked, a few kids who lived on farms over a mile away were driven by their parents. I don't remember having any snow days, because our teachers would stay at the school during the bad weather days. There was a little apartment in the basement for the teachers to stay, if they wanted to.

We had a janitor, his name was Fred Fankhouser, he was such a nice man. He could fix anything. Kids would bring all kinds of toys and different things to him that needed fixed.
He was great about listening to problems too I think he helped a lot of kids by just listening to them.

The teachers were very strict You had to have your homework ready to turn in every day or you got an F for that day in that subject. There were no second chances to make up any bad grades on daily work or tests They would really let you know they were unhappy if you didn't get your work done. If you didn't understand something most of them were great about helping you, once in a while we would have a crabby teacher who would be kind of mean and make you feel like a dummy.

Cinnamon Muffins

I have to be on a gluten-free diet all the time. I was diagnosed with a celiac disease ten years ago. It was so hard to accept it at first since I can't eat pizza or cake. Now I'm happy and healthy with my special diet. I have a wonderful gluten-free recipes on an internet and few books of gluten free recipes.

Gluten Free / Dairy Free Cinnamon Muffins

Makes 12 muffins

In a mixing bowl, combine all ingredients together and set aside for use in the topping and cake.

Streusel Topping
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup gluten free flour mixture
1/3 cup spectrum shortening, room temperature
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Combine all ingredients in a small mixing bowl until a clumpy mixture forms. Set aside.

MUFFIN

1 Cup Better Batter Mix
1/2 Cup Gluten Free Flour Mix
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 free range eggs
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup rice milk (or other non dairy milk)
1.5 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cinnamon

1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

2. In a standing mixer, place all the muffin ingredients into the bowl and mix for 2 - 3 minutes on medium speed.

3. Pour batter into greased muffin pan. Sprinkle the streusel topping onto batter.

4. Bake for 20-22 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool for about 5 minutes before serving.

This bridge is on the Old Donner Pass Highway.
It has a spectacular view of Donner Lake and
Donner Pass on R oute 80. (it's in Texas)
A bear was walking across Rainbow Bridge ( Old Hwy 40 at
Donner Summit , Truckee ) on Saturday when two cars, also
crossing the bridge, scared the bear into jumping over the
edge of the bridge. Somehow the bear caught the ledge
and was able to pull itself to safety. Authorities decided
that nothing could be done to help Saturday night so they
returned Sunday morning to find the bear sound asleep on
the ledge.
After securing a net under the bridge the bear was tranquilized,
fell into the net, lowered, then woke up and walked out of the net.
There is a moral to this story you know; this old bear made
a wrong move and found he was hanging by his nails. Somehow
he was able to pull himself up onto the ledge where he saw he
was in a very bad, impossible situation and what did he do?
Yep, he took a nap and sure enough God took care of the
situation while he was asleep.

Why Did Jesus Fold the Napkin?

This is one I can honestly say I have never seen circulating in the e-mails so; I'll start it, if it touches you and you want to forward it.

Why did Jesus fold the linen burial cloth after His resurrection? I never noticed this....

The Gospel of John (20:7) tells us that the napkin, which was placed over the face of Jesus, was not just thrown aside like the grave clothes.

The Bible takes an entire verse to tell us that the napkin was neatly folded, and was placed at the head of that stony coffin.

Early Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance.

She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, 'They have taken the Lord's body out of the tomb, and I don't know where they have put him!'

Peter and the other disciple ran to the tomb to see. The other disciple out ran Peter and got there first. He stopped and looked in and saw the linen cloth lying there, but he didn't go in.

Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus' head was folded up and lying to the side.

Was that important? Absolutely!
Is it really significant? Yes!

In order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you have to understand a little bit about Hebrew tradition of that day.
The folded napkin had to do with the Master and Servant, and every
Jewish boy knew this tradition.

When the servant set the dinner table for the master, he made sure that it was exactly the way the master wanted it.

The table was furnished perfectly, and then the servant would wait, just out of sight, until the master had finished eating, and the servant would not dare touch that table, until the master was finished..

Now if the master were done eating, he would rise from the table, wipe his fingers, his mouth, and clean his beard, and would wad up that napkin and toss it onto the table.

The servant would then know to clear the table. For in those days, the wadded napkin meant, "I'm finished.."

But if the master got up from the table, and folded his napkin, and laid it beside his plate, the servant would not dare touch the table, because..........

The folded napkin meant,
"I'm coming back!"

A Nice Visit... Through The Video Phone

My deaf brother called me on my Video Phone. We had a nice talk. I told him that this week had been my third week that I was sick. I had a cough. I was getting tired of it, too. He suggested some remedies. I said, “No thank you. I’d rather have my wishes granted by a genie. I’d rub the golden lamp, and he would appear, if I wanted him to. I’d ask him to grant my wishes to suddenly get well. My second wish would be to never get sick for the rest of my life. Lastly, my third wish would be to get 15 million dollars... in cash. Afterwards, my deaf brother said, “Well... Where will you find a golden lamp?” I replied, “I’d fly to Iran and ask for it, of course." He asked another question. “Where would you get money for an airplane ticket?” I answered, “How about helping your sick sister and buy her a ticket?”

My Love for Winter

I want to share why I like Winter so much. But I would like you to also know that, for some reasons, I dislike Winter. Mainly, it's that I don't exactly like to be freezing in a car where I have to save the gas in the tank... Which means no heat...
But anyways, there are several things I like about Winter. First of all, Winter is one of my favorite seasons. It reminds me of a dreamy white Christmas season, when the children can enjoy playing in the snow and have some hot cocoa. Secondly, I like to be cuddle in a cozy homemade blanket by the fireplace and watch Christmas movies with my hubby and children. It binds us together with a lovely closeness.
Lastly, I enjoy using the oven to cook.. Not only to warm up the house, but also so that my family can enjoy many great foods. All in all, there is something to enjoy during Winter!

And don't forget to enjoy the snow!

Christmas tree is here
Wrapping lots of gifts
Counting 25 days

Saturday night: We got our Christmas tree up!

Sunday and Monday: I just finished sending out the Christmas cards.

Monday: I wrote this short poem!

Tuesday: I'm thinking about going out shopping. It's not really my pleasure since I worry about how much I spend. I'm not rich but try to find reasonable prices.

Wednesday: I'll make Christmas cookies and cupcakes!

Thursday: Hannah is going to be in the Christmas Choir in the downtown.

Friday: I'm not sure what we will do. I think I'll wrap the gifts.

Saturday: We'll go to Deaf Christmas Party at the church in Boulder.

Sunday: We'll go to the deaf church in Denver and stay for a potluck and fellowship.

I guess that's enough for now.

Going to happy-go-lucky concerts.
Going to motivational weekend get-a-ways.
Potlucks on the first Sunday of the month.
Being holier-than-thou.
Refusing to understand because it’s "bad."
Being a Christian . . . being CHRIST like . . .

a CHRIST follower . . . being a little CHRIST

means being knowing that God is the ONLY judge.
Being there for someone when they need you.
Shining so brightly that people want to know

why you are different.
Hanging out with the sinners.
I am so tired, WORN DOWN, and SICK of "Christians."
How fake you are.
How utterly disgusting you are.
You are so caught up in throwing your Religion in people’s faces

and judging them for their sins that you FORGET to follow God.

You forgot that God and Christ love everyone.
It is not for you to judge.
JESUS CHRIST was offensive.

He hung out with the dirty whores, liars, and thieves.
JESUS CHRIST made the Pharisees angry.
JESUS CHRIST offended the religious people.
I see people every single day

who think they are better than the bum on the street.
I see people every single day

who think they are better than the man
who cheated on his wife.
I see people every single day

who think they are better than the person
who stole a car.
When do I see people who realize that

their sins are NO LESS and NO GREATER
than any other sin?
Hardly. Ever.
I hate that people justify their actions

by hiding behind their religion.
May I remind you that you are acting out of a sinful nature
by being a judge instead of a follower?
Now, I ain’t perfect.
I just said ain’t.
But at least I know that I have no religion.
I have a faith . . . I have a passion . . . and I have love.
That is all I need.
Because when you are sitting in your Bible study

with your religious friends . . .
I am out there . . .
Showing the people who really need God

Love. Forgiveness. Acceptance.
Not judgement. Haughtiness. Rejection.

Legend of the Five Kernels:

The first winter the pilgrims spent in their
new home was very cold. Food was in short
supply. Some days they had only enough food
for each person to have five kernels of corn for
the day. Spring came. They planted food. It grew.
All of the pilgrims did not die. From then on when
it was time of Thanksgiving, the pilgrims put five
kernels of corn on each plate and used them to
remind them of their blessings: The first kernel
reminds us of the autumn's beauty around us.
The second kernel reminds us of our love for
each other. The third kernel reminds us of
God's love and His care for us. The fourth
kernel reminds us of our friends-especially
our Indian brothers. The fifth kernel reminds
us we are a free people.

I'd like to share the verses with you. It's a good tool for you (and me) to receive wisdom and understanding whatever happening in our life through holy spirit.
I'm not perfect but will always need to know wisdom and teaching whatever happening in my daily life. Let Him work in our live and His word through us.

They show you how to know wisdom and teaching, to find the words of understanding. They help you learn about the ways of wisdom and what is right and fair. I think Russell is cute, but some of his talking isn't cute at all. What does it mean? AnNoYiNg.
That’s what it is. He’s trying to be nice. Yes, I can see that. I think he’s cute and trying to be nice. To me, he's a little bit annoying. What Russell has said is not oppressing.

Like me? Maybe you do. Some of you like him, and some of you don’t like him. No big deal.

I don't think there is any audism in DVTV. No, that is not Audism. They just have different perspective they want to share . . . and different beliefs on stuff. Why? All different people aren’t on the same idea. They have a right to share what they think. It's a freedom of speech. Like it or not. That is what we have to deal with. Life goes on.

Keep a healthy dialogue . . . we need to remind ourselves to praise first then agree to disagree.

Good job, lady (Aguabo) about the facts on CI. I found another blog that some people are suing CI company for the failures. I like you. I hope you don't mind, give Russell a chance. He can be annoying but a little bit.

Good job, Russell for trying to share your perspective with her . . . I think that you need to praise her and admire her . . . then you can share your opinion and what you see . . . It’s your challenge. You also need to see what it’s annoying when you talk to someone. Nevertheless, I like you.

We were roommates at Gallaudet University in my second year. Teri and I had a lot of good memories! A lot of wild times and we laughed! We had a long chat together on Video Phone, caught up with the news, and haven't done it for more than 20 years! I look forward to seeing her in the future. the smell of them is on a passing breeze
Apples are ready to be picked from the trees
Seeing them piled in the baskets is a joy

The ripe harvest in the fields can be fun
